Summertime Blues – Can your car handle the heat?

Summer is here again and if the soaring temperatures of the past few weeks are any indication it’s going to be a hot one!

Summer is the busiest time of the year for many of us. With Christmas, New Year and holidays it’s easy to forget about your car, that is, of course, until it breaks down.

The cooling system is one of the most important, yet often overlooked parts of the engine. The cooling system works by running a coolant through small channels in the engine keeping it at the optimum operating temperature. The coolant carries the heat away from the engine and dissipates it as it passes through the radiator.

A properly functioning cooling system is more than capable of keeping your engine at the right temperature throughout the summer, however small problems such as faulty thermostat or a blocked hose can cause a blockage in the system and lead to overheating. Overheating can quickly escalate and end up causing a multitude of very expensive problems like a blown head gasket.

The good news is, it can all be avoided with a simple preventative maintenance routine. All vehicles booked in for a Tunehouse Plus servicing during the months of January and February will receive a free Cooling System Inspection and Report. It’s just another way Tunehouse helps you save money and keep you on the road safer and trouble-free.
