Jim’s Word – July 2014: James Bond, Time Attack and Mazda Performance

The end of financial year is always a busy period for us and this year was no different. The dyno room has never been busier with a huge variety of cars coming through.

One car that stood apart was the Aston Martin Vantage V12. The iconic car, made famous by its biggest ambassador – James Bond came in for a dyno tune and an aftermarket exhaust. Even if you’re not a James Bond fan, it’s worth watching the video of the car on our dyno!

Speaking of popular, one type of car we get to see a lot of is the Mazda 3 MPS. It seems that Mazda had really hit a bullseye with that model providing enthusiasts with a solid, robust and reliable platform which can be modified and tuned as a track day weapon or just a tough street car.

We have been involved with the MPS community for quite a few years now through numerous MPS dyno days and their feedback has been instrumental in developing a comprehensive range of upgrades for these cars.

On the racing front, we have attended the NSW Time Attack at Wakefield Park with a three car team and came away with a podium finish for AED Consulting’s STi and a new PB for Heasman’s S14. The THR-86 was the fastest 86 at the event.

The pressure is now on to make the cars as competitive as possible for the World Time Attack Challenge in October when they will be up against the big guns from all over the world!

As always, take care out there and happy motoring.
